Job Description

Relevant Experience:

  • Proven experience machining and welding

Relevant Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certifications/Licensing:
  • Certified Welder and/or Machinist

Required Security Clearance:

  • Secret

Responsibilities:

  • Repairing and fabricating components, using machine shop tools in support of mission and real property installed equipment.
  • Repairing, fabricating and building up various components of sheet metal.
  • Performing arc, gas and heliarc welding services
  • Repairs mechanical and power train parts, utilizing various general and special metalworking machines, such as lathes, grinding, shaping and drilling.
  • Ensures that material to be utilized conforms with customer requirements.
  • Performs all work within tolerance, as prescribed in various equipment manuals
  • Designs and fabricates special tools and equipment, as required
  • Assists other mechanics with major overhaul, or in other duties as directed.
  • Shall be able to us precision instruments assigned to his craft
  • Performs all required soldering and welding
  • Performs repair and fabrication of heating, ventilating and cooling ducts, metal cabinets, cable trays, louvers, trackers, panels, etc
  • Operates rivet gun and drills and treating ovens, metal rollers, metal shears and brakes
  • Fabricated and performs other tasks assigned by supervisor
  • Accountable for government furnished equipment
  • Aware of hazards associated with job duties and control measures required to counteract them
  • Participated in relevant quality, environmental, safety, security and disaster preparedness programs
  • Maintains job proficiency by participating in training programs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
