POSITION TITLE: YOUTH COORDINATOR

STATUS: HOURLY, NON-EXEMPT

PAY: $17.00

GENERAL STATEMENT:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 experience in conducting Salvation Army youth ministries related programs
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Complete criminal background check and Protect the Mission Training
  • Demonstrates mature Christian faith
  • Uniform wearing Salvationist preferred
  • Working knowledge of Salvation Army policies, procedures, and programs
  • Computer literate and experienced in Media preferred
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check (class B license preferred)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication (Spelling - 90% Grammar - 85%)

  • Proficient typing skills (60 words per minute)

  • Microsoft PowerPoint, helpful
  • Outlook helpful
  • Social Media proficient
  • Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

SCOPE OF POSITION:

This position will provide assistance and support to the Corps Officer as needed in support of all Corps Ministries reporting directly to the Corps Officer. The main thrust of this position will be in planning, implementation and oversight of all youth program activities and or corps program activities as needed or directed. This position will manage and maintain Corps related Social Media and Facebook page.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Survey and plan for neighborhood outreach
  • Prepare and lead youth Sunday School
  • Prepare and make provision for Church
  • Prepare and lead seasonal Summer programs
  • Prepare and lead seasonal holiday programs
  • Prepare and lead instructional programs as assigned
  • Prepare and lead events and or other specific youth ministries as assigned
  • Serve as primary driver for Youth and other Corps ministries when appropriate
  • Manage and maintain Corps Social Media platforms and Facebook
  • Provide administrative support to Corps Officer as directed
  • Perform other program support functions as requested and or directed by Corps Officer

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
  • Ability to lift up to 25 (usually file boxes
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer
  • Ability to understand written information

Health Insurance: Low bi-weekly premiums ($34.62) for employee only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside of a Kaiser service area. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance offered starting at $2.31 bi-weekly cost. Employees are covered by an employer paid life insurance policy. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at 5 years eligible service time, employee funded voluntary 403(b) options

Parental Leave: Benefit will be one week (5 business days) of paid leave at the employee's normal rate of pay for births, adoptions and foster placements.

Sick Leave: 12 days annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after 3 months' service time.

Paid Vacation: 2 weeks annually accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions. 4 weeks annually accruing from day one, for exempt positions. Accrued vacation eligible for use after 6 months' service time.

Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
