Responsibilities

  • State Farm has an exciting internship opportunity available for graduate students known as the Modeling and Analytics Graduate Network (MAGNet). This internship is specifically designed for students enrolled in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Mathematics programs at Arizona State University (ASU). MAGNet interns will have the chance to apply their statistical modeling and analytics skills to a wide range of business challenges faced by State Farm.

We are particularly interested in graduate students who possess a strong understanding of statistical techniques in Actuarial Science, Statistics, and Mathematics. By participating in the MAGNet program, students will not only gain valuable experience but also be considered for full-time employment at various State Farm locations, including Atlanta, GA; Bloomington, IL; Dallas, TX; and Phoenix, AZ.

During the MAGNet program, interns will have the opportunity to utilize their predictive modeling and data analysis skills to tackle data science problems across different lines of business and departments such as marketing, insurance, and process optimization. Some specific areas of focus include pricing and underwriting risk predictive modeling, claims automation predictive modeling, sales/growth forecasting, econometric and predictive modeling, data mining applications for claims and competitive analysis, as well as evaluating new statistical methods and tools for potential use by State Farm data scientists.

  • What You Can Expect:
