We have a Business Development Manager position available. This person will be focusing on developing new business opportunities for WM targeting industrial controls, electrical and power engineering, mechanical engineering, and fabrication of systems. This person will grow WM's control system integration services focusing on large process clients and DCS or PAC systems, including equipment, PLC/HMI/SCADA applications, I&C field installation services, and software especially, but not limited to, the Southeast, upper Midwest, and Southwest.

Responsibilities

Responsible for business development. Sources new contacts for business, initiates relationships and maintains established relationships with industrial clients

  • Establishes new client accounts and maintains industry contacts leading to increased sales and long-term repeat business. Broad support of Life Sciences, Spec Chem, Pulp & Paper, and Power/Water Utility preferred
  • Obtains leads from a variety of sources including industry conferences, channel relationships, market reports, vendors, and other company sales personnel
  • Manage and report on sales pipeline using WM CRM tools (Salesforce), scheduling team tasks/activities, follow up
  • Leverage technical knowledge of products by leading controls vendors in supporting client project understanding and positioning the WM team. Knowledge of Rockwell, Siemens, Emerson, Schneider, ABB, and GE products preferred
  • Develops and presents proposals to clients on WM engineering services and integrated systems
  • Monitors regional industry to develop sales plans and forecasts for supporting area engineering offices
  • Act as liaison between customers, business unit, project management, and engineers
  • Support engineers and project managers with respect to new proposals, project tasks, and client issues
  • Responsible for reviewing commercial terms with WM management, coordinating available resources with operations
  • Work directly with local operation managers including development and implementation of business plans, personnel recruitment, budget development, and control
  • Responsible for the review of customer orders and "handing off' contracts to operations/business unit personnel to ensure customer satisfaction, schedule, and budget are achieved

Minimum Requirements

Education

A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering is preferred. Technical degree with equivalent industry experience may be substituted.

Experience

10 years' experience in industry. Successful track record of industry work as project manager, sales, senior engineering, control systems solutions and/or system integration work with a variety of industries and clients. Knowledge of hardware and software application and design and previous experience with an A/E firm, Systems Integrator, or Engineering firm is preferred. This person must have established local contacts and a proven plan for market penetration, expansion, and diversification.

Physical Demands of Position

Seeing, hearing, clear speech, driving, ability to travel distances.

Working Environment

Standard office environment: frequent use of personal computer, facsimile, and copy machines, along with miscellaneous office equipment.
