Job Description
MAJOR FUNCTION

Responsible for fulfilling the Product Quality Engineer highly visible role, will ensure the quality of the machine assembled at Nilfisk entities meet or exceed all customer expectations on consistent basis. The function is responsible to lead cross-functional teams to analyze, address and effectively resolve customer product technical failures within in and out of warranty period to ensure customer satisfaction and product quality level improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Product Quality & Corrective Action process
  • Support development & industrialization of the Nilfisk Product Quality reporting system and CA process:
  • Train & Coach personnel in the use of the Technical Failure Reporting (TFR) system,
  • Train & Coach personnel in the 8D problem solving process and applicable quality tools such as (5W2H, Cause & effect diagrams),
  • Foster a customer focused and "Do it Right the 1st Time" quality culture & mindset,
  • Act as technical lead for analyzing externally reported customer product quality issues and making assignments to appropriate cross functional personnel to drive resolution,
  • Lead site/regional/global cross functional (Quality Action Teams) QAT's to ensure:
  • Effective leadership, coordination, and function of QAT's,
  • Consistent use of the Technical Failure Reporting (TFR) system and 8D process,
  • Response level targets are met at D3, D4 and D6 steps in the 8D process,
  • Technical Service Bulletins (TSB's) are issued at D6 & can effectively be used by

the Service Organization and Sales Company's,

  • Improved use of root cause analysis and problem-solving tools within the CA
  • Effectiveness of short-term containment and permanent corrective actions,
  • Drive reduction of Customer complaints (TFR - Technical Failure Reports), production scrap, warranty, and production quality costs,
  • Analyze global product quality data from various systems (TFR, Service Max, Visual Factory, LN, SAP, CFP and My Nilfisk) to complete D2 and ensure issues are properly prioritized with QAT,
  • Travel to customer sites or service centers as needed to assess product quality/performance or functional issues to ensure alignment of internal performance measures and customer perception,
  • Lead resolution of Top 10 and/or High Impact Product quality issues, inclusive of Hazard Analysis, Serial Fault and Quality Hold Stop Ship processes when required,
  • Support Product Quality governance process by leading TFR Site and Product Group quality meetings,
  • Setting & achievement of product quality performance targets,
  • Report on Product Quality and Corrective Action (CA) process performance vs performance targets,
  • Identify & recommend where improvements are needed,
  • Ensure identification, assignment, prioritization, and follow-up on issues & improvement actions,
  • Escalate product quality issues, serial fault decisions or QAT constraints per governance process to drive timely resolution,
  • Encourage the team members to use structured problem solving and preventive quality tools consistently.
Quality Management System
  • Ensure compliance with the global, regional & local Quality Management System's (applicable ISO or internal standards) procedures, processes,
  • Support Quality Management System (applicable ISO or internal standards), improvement and maintenance, including conducting internal layered, process, and system audits,
  • Support the development and implementation of proactive and prevention-based quality controls,
  • Support regional work instructions, SOPs reviews and revisions,
  • Contribute to develop and maintain for PFMEA/Control Plan,
  • Promote the use of continuous improvement techniques such as Six Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) as applicable.
Supplier, Production Company and New Product / Solution Development Support
  • Drive process to communicate customer driven product quality issues with the production company teams, product development teams and supplier quality teams to support development of proactive and prevention-based quality processes.

REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION:
  • MS/BS in Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
  • ~4-5 years of experience in designing, testing, repairing, or manufacturing of industrial or commercial products utilizing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or engine systems.
  • ~4-5 years of experience working with a structured problem-solving process and quality tools.
  • Proficiency in use of statistical analysis software such as Minitab, or similar,
  • Proficiency in use of a structured problem-solving process and tools. 8D, 5 Why's, IS IS-Not, Fishbone diagrams, Pareto Analysis,
  • Proficiency in use of FMEA and/or HARA process,
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing skills.
KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
  • High level of proficiency in problem investigation & analysis and solving
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and engine systems/components
  • Good knowledge in use of electrical/hydraulic/engine system diagnostic and data acquisition tools
  • Strong ability to plan, establish and coordinate test and inspection procedures, lead & conduct process capability studies, prepare statistical quality control data and develop statistical designed experiments,
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standard,
  • Superior customer orientation and listening skills,
  • High level of English language fluency with both verbal and written communication,
  • Strong reading, writing and comprehension to understand instructions, short correspondence, and memos,
  • Demonstrated proficiency in activity planning,
  • Demonstrated cross functional team leadership at local/regional/global level,
  • Strong communicator & Team player, able to interact with all functional areas and at all organizational levels,
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, such as SAP,
  • Software for statistical analysis. (Minitab),
  • Capability to learn new software,
  • Traveling regional and oversees is required in this position.
