POSITION SUMMARY:

The Intern, Continuum Editorial position will assist with introductory author and guest editor processes, manuscript preparation, and preparation of CME materials, as well as provide a backup to Continuum's audio products. The Intern, Continuum Editorial will gain experience working in an editorial environment with a team of editorial professionals to publish issues in a timely manner.


ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Editorial tasks

  • Learn to format manuscripts and multiple-choice questions according to style
  • Assist in the stylist edits
  • Help in implementation of reference management software, including building libraries
  • Assist with reference management before manuscript submission
  • Retype tables and recreate figures as needed
  • Enter peer review and associate editor comments into manuscripts
  • Obtain permissions to reprint tables and figures
  • Assist the editorial team as needed for special projects


Administrative tasks

  • Create guest editor/author letters and forms and track submission
  • Assist with subscriber issues and provide customer service
  • Aid with creation and/or proof CME tests
  • Document/update processes and records as needed
  • Assist with the implementation of the Editorial Manager manuscript tracking system


Backup on Continuum Audio Products

  • Help review Continuum Audio transcripts for accuracy
  • Listening to Read Aloud files and recording feedback for narrators

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field


Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook (or other email system), PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with Photoshop is preferred


ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Travel Requirements: No Travel Required

Location: Minneapolis, MN and is identified as primarily remote (ability to work remotely, but required to work in the office as needed or requested, must reside within 50 miles of AAN Headquarters)

Schedule: Rarely beyond standard work schedule required

Physical Requirements: Standard office setting, with ability to sit for long periods of time, occasional use of stairs; regular use of computer and office equipment, lifting up to 10 lbs. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
