Position Purpose

As a Survey Crew Chief, you will work with entry level and experienced survey professionals to provide survey related services for KLJ client projects.

Essential Functions
  • Survey to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, mining or other surveying related purposes.
  • Provide guidance to Survey Technician
  • Gather field data under direction of a Senior Survey Crew Chief
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance by reviewing work
  • Ability to complete specific Survey crew tasks as directed by Principal Land Surveyor
  • Ensure compliance with KLJ safety standards
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication
Responsibilities
  • Construction staking, planning, reports, maps, plats, deeds, local geography, physical evidence, legal descriptions, and research
  • Basic understanding in survey methodology and equipment and competent in its use
  • Lead survey effort in the field Instruct, train, and mentor crew members
  • Completes assigned tasks according to scope of services and within budget and schedule
Qualifications
  • Civil technology degree or equivalent survey field experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles

Preferences:

  • An LSI certification is preferred
Hours and Travel

This position requires the individual work 40+ hours per week with 95% of the time spent in the field and 5% in the office.

  • Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to ten miles per day
  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
