The Department of Public Safety provides video surveillance, card access, security alarm monitoring and administration to the University of Minnesota on a system-wide basis. These services are provided on a "for the good of the University" basis, utilizing central funding. The University's investment in the technology to support these functions must be properly planned, maintained, and enhanced for maximum efficiency and utilization. The data generated by these systems must also be managed in accordance with state statutes and federal law.
Position Description
The Emergency Communications Center within Public Safety (PSECC) has the primary responsibility for the planning, strategy, operation, and maintenance of the centralized security systems. Under the direction of the PSECC Assistant Director and in collaboration with various stakeholders, this position will provide critical support in the planning, development, and ongoing coordination of security projects for the following University security systems:
Major activities will include monitoring project progress at all stages, tracking and reporting on administration of the systems, procurement of goods and services, and other administrative duties.

This is a hands-on position in a 24x7x365, high impact, high performing environment. Work is generally performed in an office setting weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed with potential for 24-hour availability. Some field work is required, as well as travel to coordinate campuses and properties.
