As a leading member of our UHG M&A team, this position would place you in a leadership role to actively manage multiple merger and acquisition projects, providing extensive exposure to key individuals throughout our organization and also to senior management of companies targeted for acquisition. UHG is one of the largest healthcare investors in the world that actively seeks to invest its capital in M&A to fulfill its mission to make the healthcare system better for everyone.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation of active M&A targets to synthesize their business offerings, strategic value, and key drivers of revenues and profits to UnitedHealth Group Senior Executives
  • Accuracy and quality of all core financial statement projections, valuation models (DCF, transaction and trading comparables, LBO) and earnings per share accretion / dilution analysis
  • Managing the due diligence process on potential acquisition opportunities to validate the investment thesis and associated risks by coordinating across large internal diligence teams of functional subject matter experts
  • Identifying, researching, and evaluating M&A industry trends, potential inorganic growth initiatives, and M&A target companies across healthcare sectors through special projects for executive leaders
  • Key liaison to business segment senior leadership, transaction advisors and acquisition targets
  • Actively developing and coaching junior team members to become solid M&A professionals with business acumen
  • Ability to take an active role in reviewing transaction agreement terms having financial implications (net working capital, indebtedness, funds flows, etc.) and provide recommendations to senior team members

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of M&A experience with a Transaction Advisory Services group corporate development, investment banking or private equity firm
  • Experience leading multiple small teams on a project basis with the mental agility to adapt and make progress in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience in a leadership role on a team signing and closing multiple transactions
  • Mastery of core accounting and finance concepts that pertain to an acquisition, JV or minority investment
  • Travel and work schedule flexibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Math
  • CFA, CPA, or MBA
  • 6+ years of M&A experience with a Transaction Advisory Services group corporate development, investment banking or private equity firm
  • Experience being the point person responsible for all of the aspects of an M&A project and have successfully signed and closed deal(s) in this capacity
  • Ability to effectively communicate to executive audiences across multiple environments to achieve goals for the deal
