Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 10+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 8 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
As a Senior systems engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems, you'll be a member of a a cross functional team responsible for designing and developing new methods for signal processing in sensor applications (radar, EO/IR, hyperspectral, LIDAR). Vital characteristics for a candidate for this position are analytical ability, perseverance, patience, hard work, and creativity.

- Designing and developing new methods for signal processing in sensor applications (radar, EO/IR, hyperspectral, LIDAR)
- Experience utilizing reference architectures to design new products
- Experience developing CONOPs and use cases for defense-related systems
- Experience designing/performing scientific experimentation following a structured methodology such as Design of Experiments
- Experience applying open architecture concepts to product designs
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience including:
- Applying a modeling language (UML, SysML) with a framework (UAF, UPDM2, DoDAF2.0) to represent system design
- Use of system modeling tools (MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler/Architect, Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody)
- Complex mathematical system modeling and analysis using tools like MATLAB (or similar such as Python or Simulink)
- Experience with developing radar system tracker and sensor fusion algorithms (Kalman filtering, optimal estimation)
- Interfacing with other engineering disciplines including software or hardware to communicate intent and performance of algorithms in simulated environment
- Experience with large computing systems utilizing high-speed networking for parallel processing
- Experience with sensor processing algorithm development for embedded CPU, GPU, and/or FPGA application
- Primary current efforts emphasize RF signal processing however other non-RF sensor processing (such as EO/IR) algorithmic experience will be applicable and heavily considered
- Experience modeling the algorithm performance and conducting software-in-the-loop and/or hardware-in-the-loop testing would be a plus
- Desire to mentor junior engineers on technically complex subjects
- Ability to communicate technical topics to peers orally and in writing

Target salary range: USD $170,000.00/Yr. - USD $188,000.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
