Job Overview

We are looking for a talented Visual Design Lead to join our growing UX team focused on digital products and help accelerate the impact we have on our Customer Experience.

As a leader in visual design, you will ensure consistency and excellence across our digital products and the Marvin Brand. Your role involves shaping visual design directions and design patterns and contributing to the Marvin Design System.

Highlights of your role

Visual Design Leadership:

* Lead the visual design efforts for digital products, ensuring consistency and quality in the visual elements.

* Provide creative direction and guidance to the design team, ensuring that the visual aspects align with the overall design strategy and user experience goals.

* Stay current with the latest trends in digital design, motion, VR/AR, etc.

User Interface (UI) Design:

* Explore visual design direction, new design patterns, and motion design for new experiences or products

* Work closely with UX designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into visually engaging and functional interfaces using existing design components or creating new ones as needed.

* Create high-quality deliverables and document design specifications for hand-off.

Brand Alignment:

* Help translate the brand ambition into Digital Brand guidelines to ensure the visual design reflects the brand's identity.

* Collaborate with the branding team to co-create new storytelling possibilities and maintain brand consistency across all digital touchpoints.

Design System Integration:

* Collaborate with the Design System Team to define a sustainable process for building and maintaining a Marvin Design System and developer's component library that ensures consistency in our products and grants autonomy to our team.

* Actively collaborate with the Design System Team, contributing to improving existing components and engaging in discussions about integrating new, reusable components.

* Ensure that the visual design aligns with and follows the guidelines set by the design system.

* Collaborate with developers to ensure a proper implementation of the design components

Feedback and Iteration:

* Provide constructive feedback to designers to improve the visual aspects of their work.

* Iterate designs based on user feedback, usability testing, and evolving project requirements.

* Provide creative direction, inspiration, and guidance to more junior Designers

Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:

* Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure that the visual design is implemented accurately and maintains its quality throughout the development process.

* Conduct regular design reviews to assess how well the design has been translated into the final product, identifying any discrepancies or issues that may have arisen during implementation.

* Provide feedback to developers to address any visual inconsistencies, ensuring that the final product aligns with the approved visual design and meets the desired quality standards.

You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)

* 7+ years of experience in visual design, art direction, UI/UX design, or a related field, with a robust portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design projects and demonstrating a strong understanding of design principles and methodologies.

* Proven experience in leading and managing design teams, providing direction, mentorship, and feedback.

* Ability to inspire and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.

* Strong strategic thinking and the ability to align visual design decisions with broader business goals and user experience strategies.

* Experience in translating business requirements and user needs into visually compelling design solutions.

* Strong visual design aesthetic and interactive design knowledge

* Experience with a variety of design and interactive tools (such as Figma, Miro, Adobe XD) and the ability to adapt to new design tools and technologies as the industry evolves.

* In-depth knowledge of design systems and the ability to integrate visual design components seamlessly into established systems. Experience collaborating with or contributing to the development of design systems.

* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality visual standards throughout the design and implementation process.

* Experience conducting thorough design reviews and quality assurance to ensure the fidelity of the final product.

* Experience in leading design projects or areas of a product, solid time-management, and prioritization skills, and the ability to run projects simultaneously.

* Strong verbal and visual presentation skills. You can present creative work early and often to key stakeholders in design reviews, and be prepared to articulate, justify, and defend design and interaction recommendations.

* Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary UX and product teams.

* Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

* You are self-directed toward excellent work outcomes and are comfortable working in ambiguous, non-rules-based environments.
