ECHO Research Study Data Collector (RP2)

The primary purposes of this position are to collect participant data and to assist with data entry for a longitudinal cohort study involving Asian American children and adults. The study is based in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health in the School of Public Health, and the research study visits occur at the Epidemiology Clinical Research Center (ECRC). This position reports to the research study's Program Manager and is responsible for participant data and biospecimen collection and data entry at study clinic visits, participant retention efforts, and adherence to regulatory requirements as set forth by the study's coordinating center.

Participant Data/Biospecimen Collection and Data Entry (90%)

  • Participate in data and biospecimen collection activities with infants (ages birth - 2), young children (ages 3 - 6), and adult research study participants.
  • Attend and complete extensive local measurement training for certification in all aspects of data collection.
  • Adhere to measurement logistics within the clinic.
  • Ensure adherence to study protocol for detailed, accurate data collection.
  • Ensure adherence with regulatory requirements as set forth by the study's coordinating center.
  • Assist study coordinator and program manager with ensuring study staff are compliant with safety regulations and that study specific protocols regarding safety regulations are followed by all study staff.
  • Update safety records and procedures, as required.
  • Maintain secure and confidential documentation of participants' personal information.
  • Perform other administrative tasks related to data collection, as needed.
  • Perform all data entry within 48 hours of the study visit, per study protocol.
  • Administer and assist with data and biospecimen collection activities in a virtual setting.
  • Administer and assist with data and biospecimen collection activities in participant homes.
  • Utilizing past experience working on research studies, serve as a data collection leader during study clinic visits.
  • Serve as the back-up study phlebotomist and conduct venipuncture and blood spots from participants as needed at study-required timepoints.

Participant Retention Efforts (10%)

  • Successfully implement participant retention efforts that utilize best practices for retention of study participants, while recognizing cultural sensitivity of the target population; troubleshoot retention issues if they arise.

Compensation:

  • $26.93 - $30.29 per hour (approximately $56,000 - $63,000 annually)

Work Environment:

  • This is a 100% in person position (Epidemiology Clinical Research Center (ECRC))
  • 40 hours per week
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years experience working in a research environment while collecting data for research purposes or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 6 years.
  • Trained and certified in phlebotomy, or willingness to be trained and certified in phlebotomy, to be able to serve as one of the study phlebotomists as the need arises.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Evening and weekend availability to work regularly scheduled shifts during these times.
  • Experience with adhering to strict study protocol.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of people with cultural sensitivity and humility.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to and from participant homes to conduct study home visits, as needed.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with longitudinal, multi-site cohort studies.
  • Experience collecting data through a virtual platform (i.e., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
