The SPH division of Health Policy & Management seeks a full-time Research Dissemination Coordinator (Research Professional 1 (8352P1) to join the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) team of dedicated and highly regarded faculty, research experts, and staff. This position will work as part of a collaborative research team and is aimed at individuals with skills in displaying data in a visual way who are interested in learning about health policy research and the data that support this policy.

Starting pay is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience and internal equity: $47,000-$55,000 annually.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Research Dissemination Coordinator will help visually design and promote findings of SHADAC research teams (made up of faculty, staff, and students) using skills in design and layout, data visualization, and research manuscript production. Research at SHADAC focuses on areas of state health policy, health care delivery and payment reforms, and program evaluation, and health-related topics, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, health equity, social determinants of health, health insurance coverage, and population health. The position will support the public face of SHADAC via visual design production, research project promotion, and coordinating SHADAC research and organizational events. Specific duties may include:

Research Publication Support - 50%

  • Provide layout and formatting support for research products (reports, charts, presentations slide decks, etc.) within established branding parameters using primarily Microsoft suite programs and InDesign- working with graphic design vendors as needed.
  • Develop original visual content like simple infographics to promote SHADAC research and data products and to highlight data on SHADAC's State Health Compare web tool using software like Canva.
  • Conceptualize ways to present data through graphics, charts, graphs, maps, and interactive visualizations with different software (i.e. Tableau and Datawrapper) *Training will be provided as needed.*
  • Format manuscripts, presentations, posters, and abstracts for submission to academic journals and conferences.
  • Distill and highlight key findings from SHADAC research and data products to create content for SHADAC social media outlets (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.).


Research Coordination Support - 50%

  • Oversee and conduct tracking of results/metrics from current grants and projects for required reporting.
  • Coordinate and execute research product promotion and dissemination timelines.
  • Plan and coordinate periodic updates to core content on SHADAC website (e.g., topic resource pages, SHADAC expertise pages, staff bios, etc.)*Training on website hosting platform will be provided, a background in HTML, Java, or other programming languages is not necessary.*
  • Coordinate relationships with research support vendors (e.g. graphic design vendors or communications contractors).
  • Develop and maintain SHADAC promotional materials in line with established branding parameters (e.g., business cards, banners, conference materials, stationary, etc.)
  • Provide support for 2-4 webinars or other meetings per year, including event logistics, promotional materials, correspondence with speakers, setting up Zoom platform, serving as administrative support during the events and managing post-event follow-up.
  • Coordinate and support event planning for 2-3 small in person meetings per year (e.g. event logistics including calendar holds, technology needs, providing day-of event support including setup and tear down).
  • Assist with administrative tasks and provide back-up for other team members as needed.

TRAINING AND LEARNING: Under the supervision of a SHADAC Senior Research Fellow, this position is primarily responsible for implementing set work plans and completing assigned tasks as determined by senior staff. The individual in this position will be given opportunities for both internal and external training and learning. The responsibilities and duties of the position are designed to grow with the advancement of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the person in the role.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree or combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
  • Experience in creating content for and formatting reports, presentations, data tables, and data displays
  • Excellent communication skills, including digital communication skills, such as electronic mail and scheduling using the Google suite, convening using Zoom or other video conferencing platforms
  • Proficiency in using Word, PowerPoint and Excel and Google suite applications
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, be responsive to ad hoc assignments, meet deadlines, and plan ahead.
  • Comfort and competence working independently and collaboratively in a team-based , collaborative workplace environment.
  • Strong interest in health policy, research and data visualization
  • Dedication to advancing health equity and justice in health care

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with digital communication tools (Google Workspace [slides, docs, sheets], Google Analytics, Zoom, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience in use of graphic design software/tools such as including Adobe InDesign and Canva
  • Experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining user-friendly report visualizations and dashboards with data visualization tools (e.g. Datawrapper, QlikView, Tableau)
  • Coursework or knowledge of public health, health policy, or health care access issues
