The St. James Hotel will be your best summer job! We're making summer job offers now!

We're looking for engaging team members and we are willing to train people with great attitude and professional style.

Work 20-40 hours per week during the summer over a combination of days afternoons/evenings and weekends.

Extend your availability to work part-time up to 20 hours per week during May, September and October too and we'll do our best to accommodate your desired work schedule as long as you have availability to work evenings and weekends.

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our culinary team at the St. James Hotel. As a Seasonal Cook, you will assist the Chef in preparing and executing delicious meals according to our seasonal menus while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and safety. If you have a passion for cooking, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you.

  • Prepare all foods for daily service in accordance with seasonal menus and health/sanitation guidelines.
  • Cook hot and cold food products accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist in food and final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing.
  • Ensure proper portioning and cooking of all menu items.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Communicate effectively with the Chef to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Address guest complaints and problems professionally to ensure satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a kitchen environment.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
  • Understanding of standardized recipes and cooking terminology.
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Familiarity with food allergens and dietary restrictions.
  • Attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with kitchen operations and scratch cooking.
  • Ability to multitask with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in creating visual food presentations.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Commitment to cleanliness and teamwork.
