Twin Cities PBS (TPT) is one of the most innovative public media organizations in the country. Every day, TPT uses the power of media to advance the arts, spur learning, help young people succeed and help adults age vitally. TPT presents extraordinary PBS programming and also produces award-winning content for the national PBS system.
In partnership with the Vice President and rooted in IDEA tenants and practices, provide vision and leadership for positioning TPT as a premiere provider of creative, high-quality content and community-based educational content and activities. Provide media-rich, interactive learning experiences that are effective in virtual and in-person settings and easily accessed by teachers, students and parents.

Salary: $80k - $90K Annually (depending on qualifications)

Hybrid Work Environment: Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Twin Cities Metro area.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
PROJECT LEADERSHIP AND STAFF MANAGEMENT (60%)
  • Lead local and national lifelong learning projects, to ensure project goals and stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Supervise internal staff in educational engagement activities, driving results and delivering products and services in a timely and efficient fashion. Specific focus areas include educator professional development, parent and family/intergenerational enrichment, adult learners, PBS Learning Media expansion, TPT Learn Advisory Board coordination and TPT Learn marketing duties.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for staff with goal of employee retention and career growth.
  • Mentor and motivate staff to develop a culture that lives the mission and drives results.
  • Encourage and train staff to increase productivity and value of service.
  • Implement and/or oversee implementation of key projects, including third-party evaluation and report writing.
  • Manage performance of contractors to ensure delivery of all required outputs and outcomes for educational materials and related deliverables.
EDUCATION PROJECT/PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT (25%)
  • With the goal of successfully pursuing funding opportunities, work with Vice President and staff around ideation/creation and development of new education projects, guided by field-based needs and trends, that further departmental goals and serve funder's objectives.
  • Work with Vice President and staff to leverage existing educational content into new programming or use it to enrich existing programming to ensure sustainability.
  • Working with TPT staff, and external contractors as needed, develop, write and edit standards-based and age-appropriate content to support educational products and services.
  • Represent TPT Education efforts at external events and professional conferences to increase awareness and build new relationships.
  • Foster and maintain strategic partnerships with local and national organizations that extend the reach and network of Twin Cities PBS.
DEVELOPMENT/FUNDRAISING (10%)
  • Write and/or contribute to funding requests and grants to corporate, foundation and government entities.
  • Research funder prospects.
  • Participate in and/or lead pitches to potential funders.
  • Present highly professional image of TPT to all stakeholders, through verbal and written interactions.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5% of time)
  • Participate as an active member of the Lifelong Learning team.
  • Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

Required Experience

  • BA or AA in communications, education or related field, and/or commensurate experience.
  • 3-5 years of educational training and professional development experience.
  • A track record of building effective, high-quality relationships with internal and external partners and engage diverse populations.
  • 3-5 years of project coordination skills and oversight of project specifications.
Preferred Experience
  • BA or MA in communications, education or related field.
  • 7+ years of educational training and professional development experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional oral & written communication, editing, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to conceptualize and communicate work in concise, compelling ways.
  • Strong project management skills, including ability to prioritize responsibilities and give attention to details and project specifications.
  • Strong focus on audience and end user needs.
  • Strong computer application skills: Microsoft Office Suite - Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Teams, the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Able to multitask in a fast-paced, time sensitive production environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all team members.
  • Commitment to advancing Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA} priorities within the organization.
  • Ability to travel to locations in the greater metro area on a frequent basis. Occasional travel out of the state.
