Job Description

* Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and DFA rules, regulations, and policies adhering to all safety practices

* Receive instructions via radio and perform trailer shuttling to accommodate logistical needs

* Perform daily maintenance checks of shuttle truck and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person

* Document all trailer moves into the appropriate system or daily move sheet; submit sheet to appropriate person upon the completion of the shift

* Fuel the yard truck as needed

* Couple and uncouple tractor trailer units

* Connect and disconnect brake lines as needed

* Perform safety check inspection of the trailer according to DOT regulations

* Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift

* Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with local staff; report any problems to the supervisor

* Attend all driver workshops and training sessions

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred

* Must meet minimum age requirements

* Meet all DOT requirements

* Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements

* Certification and/or License - driver's license or operator's permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application - Current CDL (Class A) license preferred but not required

* Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation

* Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly

* Able to use computers and technology needed for the job

* Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size

* Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

* Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)

* Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps for problem-solving

* Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork

* Able to follow directions and meet deadlines

* Able to interpret and apply company policies

* Able to adapt and manage to change effectively

* Able to perform task and duties with limited supervision

* Able to follow through on day-to-day responsibilities

* Able to be punctual

* Must be able to read, write and speak English
