Brown Community Center is seeking a Teacher (part or full time) to facilitate long and short-range activities for children in our Infant, Toddler, and Preschool classrooms (ages ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years).   • Will provide on-site training during work hours to obtain Rule 3 licensure as needed, with rate increase upon completion

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom to ensure the provision of high quality childcare programming, including encouraging the assistants to contribute to curriculum planning.
  • Create weekly lesson plans in accordance with Creative Curriculum.
  • Plans and supervises the arrangement of the classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy environment, including safely managing developmental activities for the participants.
  • Ensures that the educational needs of the Program participants are met while in attendance.
  • Prepares monthly plan charts.
  • Maintains open communication with parents/guardians of the program participants regarding the developmental needs of the participants.
  • Maintains daily (regular) anecdotal records on participants' progress. Completes a bi-annual assessment of children's development and report progress of children to parents in bi-annual reports and through parent-teacher conferences.
  • Keeps all appropriate records such as assessments, attendance, time sheets and accident reports.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Teachers must meet Rule 3 licensing qualifications in education and experience, or be willing to obtain Rule 3 licensing requirements with Hallie Q. Brown support.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of mandated child abuse reporting guidelines.
  • A commitment to the mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations in lower socio-economic conditions.
  • Ability and desire to work closely with students, families, and coworkers.
  • Exceptional patience, listening, and engagement skills.
  • Reliability is essential.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages highly valued.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of the importance of customer service and maintaining professionalism.
  • Demonstrable skills in conflict management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good judgement in recognizing the scope of authority.
  • Computer literate with skills in MS Office.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Must be CPR/First Aid and SIDS/AHT certified or the ability to become certified within 30 days.
