Job Description

General Statement of Duties: The Department of Business Administration at Augsburg University invites application for adjunct faculty positions to teach a Business and Economics statistics course. The course is taught using Excel and Tableau.

The opening is a for face to face class taught during the day twice a week beginning in Fall 2023. In addition to teaching the class and grading student work, instructors are expected to respond to student questions through email, hold regularly scheduled office hours and reach out to students with course progress information throughout the term. A course syllabus, textbook information and sample homework assignments will be shared by the course coordinator. Each fall or spring course requires 10-12 hours per week for 15-16 weeks. Teaching in person is a union position covered by a collective bargaining agreement with SIEU, pay starts at $4,750 per course.

The successful candidate will possess both a high level of intercultural competency and a commitment to inclusive teaching and authentic representation in the classroom.Candidates are encouraged to highlight skills and experiences that demonstrate these abilities.

Responsibilities include appropriate classroom teaching, constructing assignments using Excel and Tableau, grading, office hours, regular email and meetings with the course coordinator and engagement in professional development as a professor, including some orientation the week before classes begin. Course syllabus, textbook and shared office space are provided.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A commitment to student engagement and student success with a diverse group of learners
  • A Master's in Data Analytics, Economics or Statistics or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have some experience teaching at the postsecondary level.
