      Tom Buckingham started in the disposal business when he was a senior at Burnsville High School.  During afternoon and on weekends he picked up trash in his hometown emptying fifty-five gallon burner barrels from customers back yards.  (as custom in those days)  He said his father was the person who provided the inspiration and encouragement to build his company to what it is today.  Elmer and Rose Buckingham assisted with their son’s business into the late 1990’s.

      Buckingham Disposal handles residential garbage, recycling, and commercial service to customers in Savage, Prior Lake, Burnsville, Elko/New Market, rural Shakopee, and some parts of Eden Prairie.  This portion of our business also operates the only recycling center in Scott County and all recycling material generated on Buckingham routes are brought back and processes at our own facilities.

      Buckingham Trucking, Inc. provides roll-off container box rental.  The six trucks deliver and pick up the roll-off construction boxes are the latest technology, featuring a special system know as “The Hook”.  The drivers are equipped with Nextel-builders network cellular phones for quick dispatch service to customers.

      Since adding roll-off box service, Buckingham said there has been continuous demand for them, but there are also individuals who rent them when they are doing a clean-up project or remodeling their homes.

      Tom Buckingham states, “There have been numerous changes in the solid waste disposal business since I started over 47 years ago.”  It is an industry that is constantly changing and new plans for disposing of solid waste will affect our customers and us.  The company includes a newsletter with their billing to inform customers about changes in rules that will affect their service.

      We are a very service oriented and reliable company.  We may sound like a big company because we provide service to a lot of people, but we have less than 40 employees, and that includes my wife Sue, my daughter Tonya, my son-in-law Mike, and myself.  We have a great staff led by my nephew, Shawn Holz, who is assisted by a long time employee, Greg Merker.  “We are a close knit group, just like family”, he states.

      We are a growing company and have numerous recycling projects and a recycling warehouse and office; located at 5980 Credit River (county road #21) in Prior Lake, MN.  The center offers Buckingham customers some very special incentives.

      Adding new service areas has enhanced the company’s commitment to a fairer system of pricing (volume based rates) where you only “pay for what you throw away.”  Buckingham customers may obtain a membership card for hard to recycle items.  We also accept yard waste Monday – Friday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Thursday Evening till 7:00 pm (April – November)
Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
